From Retired to Grandma Empowered: Brenda Flowers' Impact on Spark Driver™
This month, the incredible achievements of women are on everyone’s minds, and we too want to shine a spotlight on one of the many women who are crushing their goals and making a positive impact on the Spark Driver app.
A couple years ago, Brenda Flowers from Acworth, Georgia faced two big life transitions. She retired from a long career in healthcare while also becoming the guardian of her 16-year-old granddaughter who had tragically lost both parents.
In this new season of life, Brenda's new goals were simple. She wanted to earn at least $500 a week, and she wanted a flexible schedule that allowed her to be present for her granddaughter so she could continue to support her through her time of grief and healing.
Brenda explored other independent contractor opportunities before determining that the Spark Driver platform best allowed her the flexibility she needed to take her granddaughter to therapy appointments, school activities, as well as to have dinner and assist with her homework each night. Brenda enjoyed the ability to build a business making deliveries via the app during the day while her granddaughter was at school, and the flexibility to pause whenever necessary.
Brenda said she was taking her granddaughter on vacation to her first trip to the beach when she was informed that she had been accepted as an independent contractor on Spark Driver™.
“I was on top of a hill overlooking the ocean when the notification came in that I had been accepted on the app,” Brenda shared. “I will never forget that moment.”
“I felt so incredibly blessed to drive on the Spark Driver platform. My granddaughter is now in college, living on her own, doing well, and I believe it’s because I had the flexibility from Spark Driver™ to cater and focus on her needs.”
Now, nearly two years later and with more than 2,500 completed trips on her belt, Brenda has seen the app evolve and update over time. She appreciates the chat functionality when she is doing a shop and deliver. After picking up the first item, she sends a pre-made greeting to the customer, introducing herself, sharing some details about her experience, and promising to do her absolute best to select the best produce according to the customer's preferences. She even asks questions like, “How do you like your bananas?” since some people prefer them ripe while others like them green.
Brenda's story is a testament to the strength, resilience, and determination of women everywhere. As we celebrate International Women's Day, we honor Brenda and all the women on the Spark Driver platform who continue to inspire and make a difference every day.
