There are several reasons why you may have chosen to download the Spark Driver™ app and begin making deliveries on the platform. In fact, many drivers have said that they enjoy being able to provide an excellent delivery experience for customers.

Nathan Nephew is one of those drivers. If you’re interested in more information on how to create the best experience for customer deliveries, you can listen to what has worked for Nathan and decide if you’d like to take some of the same ideas for a test drive!

Here’s what Nathan makes sure to do when he’s out on the road preparing to make a delivery:

Check the Customer Delivery Notes

Before completing a delivery, it can be a good idea to check to see if the customer left any notes about specific delivery instructions. Nathan expressed that customers really appreciate when drivers read these notes and complete the delivery according to these directions.

He says, “If you have any questions about delivery instructions, you can call or text the customer to get clarification. You can review the customer’s notes before drop-off to see if there are any specific instructions or gate codes.”

He goes on to explain that “Unless you’ve confirmed arrival at the correct location, you can let the customer know you’re there by calling or texting them. The customers assume you will knock on the door once the order’s delivered unless they've specified otherwise in their delivery notes.”

See If a Customer Signature Is Required

Before you deliver an order, it may be a good idea to see if the delivery requires the customer to sign for the order. If the order has a ‘customer signature required’ label, you will have to speak to the customer to get their signature before leaving the order with them.

Note If the Order Is a No Contact Order

A no contact order can be requested by the customer if they would like you to leave the order at their door instead of connecting in person.

If this is the case, Nathan says “You should take a valid proof of delivery photo, which includes the customer’s door or address along with the delivered items. Customers appreciate it when they can see their address in the picture along with their items. And remember, never go inside a house no matter how nicely the customer might ask.”
