Health, Freedom, and Family: Andy Young's Spark Driver™ App Journey
Andy Young, a Rogers, Arkansas resident, started his journey with the Spark Driver platform in November 2022. After decades in construction—a demanding career often dictated by weather and long hours—he was ready for a change. "Once I started driving on the app, I had so much more free time," Andy shared. "In construction, I worked until dark. That is how I gained so much weight because I wasn’t able to quit working. Then I would be so hungry and would end up eating fast food."
More free time, coupled with the physical activity of fulfilling orders, sparked an unexpected benefit for Andy: weight loss. Over the past year, he’s lost an astonishing 240 pounds. "I tried every diet and pill you can imagine to lose weight”, Andy said. “Just doing the orders and learning how to eat has helped me.”
Andy’s Spark Driver app experience has been eye opening. Shopping orders, in particular, introduced him to healthier foods he’d never considered before. “A lot of people are on keto diets. When I was delivering it to them, I would ask them about it, and they would share with me how they eat. I knew there were healthy options, but I didn’t know there were so many."
It’s not just the food; the activity itself has made a difference. "When you’re shopping, you’re regularly moving—bending, lifting, walking. Even curbside orders involve stairs and carrying heavy items. It’s a whole different kind of [activity] compared to construction, he said. All of it together combined with the activity, healthier options and more time to prepare food helped me lose weight.”
Andy’s wife and one of his two daughters have also signed up for the Spark Driver app, and delivering has brought them closer together as a family. The platform also gave Andy the freedom to move to Bentonville, a city he’s come to love. Originally from Louisiana, Andy spent 20 years in Missouri before making the move. "Delivering here, I fell in love with the area. The square downtown is amazing, and there’s always something going on."
The consistency of offers is another reason Andy enjoys the platform. "Construction was dependent on the weather or the amount of job(s),” he recounts with gratitude that he is still able to often able to make deliveries regardless of the time of day or weather patterns.
Andy has seen firsthand how the Spark Driver platform impacts lives—both his own and the customers he serves. "Deliveries make life easier, especially for moms and older people. I’ve talked to a lot of people that say it has really helped them."
For Andy, being a driver is more than something to do. It’s a way to stay active, spend time with family, and live in a place he loves. “It’s something I would encourage anybody I know to do.”
