In the vibrant city of Raleigh, North Carolina, a mother-daughter duo has found their groove in the delivery space. Meet Ann and Kadee Nesbitt, who each operate as independent contractors on the Spark Driver™ platform, effectively running this like their own family business while strengthening their bond.

Ann, the matriarch, had been a caretaker for her aging parents and young children for many years. Once her children had grown and left home, she found herself lonely, especially when her husband was at work. She decided it was time to find a new path in life. When she discovered the Spark Driver platform, it seemed like a terrific solution for both social interaction and a way to earn cash.

Soon her social interactions extended beyond store associates and the customers she encountered as she delivered on the app. Her now-adult daughter Kadee noticed the fun and flexibility her mom enjoyed as an independent contractor, and she too began delivering on Spark Driver app. Together, they built a business of making their own deliveries but pooling their earnings and paying themselves a set amount each week. Any earnings that exceed their personal goals are saved to still be able to pay themselves the same amount on slower weeks, when they get sick, or go on vacation.

The freedom that comes with delivering on the Spark Driver platform is something both Ann and Kadee cherish. They don't have to report to a boss or keep set hours. They have even declined traditional job offers to maintain this independence. Ann takes full advantage of this flexibility by renting a house in Myrtle Beach for two months every winter, taking the time to relax with her husband on weekends.

Ann's motherly advice to other users of the Spark Driver app is both practical and insightful. Raised by a fire chief, she knows and advises never to block a customer’s door with delivery items, leaving ample room for it to open after the delivery has been completed.

“If the customer’s door swings open to the right, place the delivery items to the left,” she suggests. She believes that such attention to detail, coupled with closely reading customer notes, ensures a satisfied customer who will continue to order items for delivery. Additionally, she recommends managing earnings wisely and always setting something aside for slower weeks.

On most weekdays, Ann and Kadee each choose to accept offers from the same store, so they can say hello and catch up between trips. They seize the opportunity to chat with each other and interact with retail associates and other drivers during their downtime, fulfilling Ann’s craving for community.

As they navigate Raleigh to complete customer orders, Ann and Kadee communicate often and stay connected, keeping mother and daughter close both personally and professionally. What more could a mom wish for?!
